Database Cleanup

We've recently undergone a database cleanup. We've deleted quite a few "dead" feeds from our feed directory.

Although now we have fewer feeds in our rss directory, you are more likely to find "active" feeds you are interested in.

Over 20,000 Feeds!!!

Jordo Media now has over 20,000 feeds!

In an effort to increase our database size, we have imported quite a few feeds. We have not categorized them yet, but they are available in the Uncategorized category until we find a category for them.

As always, if you find a feed that is spam, broken, or should not belong in our directory, please report it using the "report problem" link while viewing the feed.

Feeds have Google PageRank

We have added a new feature to our rss feed directory.

While viewing a feed in our directory, we show you the Google PageRank of the feed you are viewing and the Google PageRank of the site where the feed originates.

Our purpose for doing this is to assist you in determining which feeds to subscribe to and hopefully recognize spam feeds quicker.

If you are unfamiliar with Google PageRank, in a nutshell, Google assigns a page rank to web pages and feeds that it indexes. This page ranking is based on high ranking sites linking to the site in question. Theoritically, the more high Google PageRank web pages that link to a particular web page, the higher it's Google PageRank will be.

The scale used is from 0 to 10 with 10 being the highest.

Voting and Commenting on RSS Feeds

You can vote on and comment on any of the RSS feeds in our directory.

You do not have to be a registered user to vote on a feed, but you do have to be a registered user and logged in to comment on the feeds in our directory.

To vote and comment on a feed, select the "Rate this RSS / Atom Feed" option while viewing a feed. Then select your rating for the feed (1 = lowest and 10 = highest). If you are logged in, you will see a comments section that you can leave a comment about the feed in. Then select submit.

To view the comments on a particular feed, select the "comments" option while viewing a feed.

We've added an new feed advertising feature on Jordo Media. Through a unique and fun process, you can purchase a featured feed link on our home page that could last years or only a day for a one time fee.

The fee is currently only $1.00 (at the time of writing this), but is designed to increase 10 cents each time someone purchases a featured feed link.

Here's how it works... We will display only 5 featured feeds at a time, numbered 1 - 5. Each time a featured feed link is purchased, it is placed in the number one position at the top, every other featured feed moves down one position, and the old number 5 link gets bounced (no longer displayed). Then the current Price for the next featured feed link purchase increases by 10 cents.

As stated, the current price to add your featured feed link to the top of the list is only $1.00, but will increase as links are purchased.

3,000th Feed

We achieved our 3,000th feed today.

We continue to try our best at keeping only quality/working feeds in our database. Not only do we hand review each submitted feed, we actively attempt to delete spam feeds and non-working feeds.

Even with our active monitoring, sometimes some feeds end up in our directory that aren't functioning or take up space and time with useless spamming.

Please do not hesitate to report these feeds using the "Report Broken Feed" link while viewing the feed.

New Google Feed Reader

Google released a new RSS and Atom feed reader called Google Reader today.

You can subscribe to RSS and Atom feeds by searching for topic or by entering in the url of the specific feeds. The interface seems pretty neat and Google Reader supports OPML. You can also add labels (similar to our tags system) and stars to your subscriptions.

Google Reader currently supports IE 6, Firefox 1.0+, Safari 1.3+, Netscape 7.2+, and Mozilla 1.7+

New Feature - Tags

We've added the ability to add tags to the rss, atom, and podcast feeds. Tags allow people to search for feeds by words that are not in the feed. For instance a feed may be about politics, but may not actually contain the word "politics". By adding the tag "politics", the feed will show up when searching for politics.

Another benifit of tags is that although you could probably select several categories for a particular feed, you can only select one category. With tags, you can select the primary categories for the feed, then recommend tags that will serve as secondary categories.

You can recommend tags when submitting a feed or selecting "add tags" while viewing a feed.

Important - Tags can only be single words (no phrases). But you can break a phrase up into single tags. For example, the phrase "lowest mortgage loan rates" can be the tags "mortgage", "loan", and "rates".
