- Earlobe Scalpelling near Hamilton/Toronto - Fri, 20 Nov 2009 13:20:58 GMT
- Does anyone know of any studios in Hamilton, Ontario, or anywhere in the general Hamilton area, that perform lobe scalpelling? I'm willing to travel to Toronto as well, even though it is significantly less convenient because I'll be taking the bus. Right now price is not an issue, I just want to find a reputable studio to go to that's within a reasonable distance

I just wanted to share my new piece.
It's a Tibetan cutting and I fucking love it. I took it a lot better than I thought I would and now I'm ready for larger pieces, and lots more of them. I'm going to get my Artist to do my entire left leg :) I'm so excited and everything turned out great. Efix is such a rad dude too!

- Another question about dermal anchors... - Tue, 17 Nov 2009 22:29:11 GMT
- So I got the dermal anchor below my eye, it looks great and I love it! I am now looking to get a vertical line of three on my lower chest, however the placement I want requires that one of the three be right in the middle of my clevage. My boobs are of moderate size, but they aren't super huge, however I'm still a little concerned as to whether or not the anchor would get irritated often because of the placement. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences to speak of with this specific placement? I appreciate the feedback!

- Dermal anchors. - Mon, 16 Nov 2009 03:02:25 GMT
- So today I went to the tattoo expo they have in my town.
I saw some people have dermal anchor's and I have been thinking about getting one. Do any of you have them? Can you tell me anything about them? I dont know anyone who has one. I have a high infection/rejection rate with piercings so it makes me kind of nervous. (Although I have 17 piercings that have survived..and its gotten a lot better with my current piercer.) I want to hear all the good and the bad. If it matters on location, I want to get one in between my chest.
- Choosing a piercer - Thu, 05 Nov 2009 15:16:53 GMT
- Hola! I'm looking to get some work done, but I have no one local to recommend one of the myriad studios in town. That leaves me with the options to either guess and hope I'm right (ew!) or interviewing studios. I know what I want as in needle pierced at a reasonable gauge, single-use equipment, titanium jewelry (I can't wear steel), etc., but I'm not sure the best way to choose a studio. What sort of questions would you normally recommend asking? So far I've jotted down "What type of procedure do you use? What type of jewelry?" All of those fun ones. But beyond that, what do you think? Would asking about recommended aftercare, for instance, be a good one? If they say use betadine or something, they obviously don't know what's what and I'd like to go elsewhere. Or would you suggest just sticking to the basics? No one in town has a website for easy gallery-access, as that was the first thing I tried, heh.
I'm looking to get my helix redone, so this will be a few months away after the cold, windy season has passed. I will definitely stop by the prospective studios to check for licenses and cleanliness. I'd just like to narrow the list down before then. Thanks!
- tongue piercing ?'s - Sun, 01 Nov 2009 19:08:47 GMT
- I just got my tongue pierced last Thursday. Things so far have been going pretty smoothly. Definitely smoother than I expected. Not nearly as swollen as I thought it'd be, and there is little to no pain. The only "pain" I've experienced is a little bit of tightness and pressure from underneath my tongue. I'm just wondering if a couple things are normal..
1. Ever since I had it pierced, I've had an almost tingling numb feeling right in front of the piercing to the tip of my tongue. I also noticed that in this area, my sense of taste isn't as strong as it was before. I mean, I get that I just had a metal rod shoved through my tongue, so I don't expect it to be in tip-top shape or anything, but I'm just wondering if this particular "problem" is something I should be concerned about. Has this happened to anybody else, and how long did it take for it to go away?
2. I don't think this is directly related to the piercing itself, but it's a question nonetheless.. I've been rinsing my mouth 3-4 times a day, plus after I eat (I haven't had anything to drink other than water), with Crest Pro-Health mouthwash. Today I noticed that the gums right along the base of my teeth towards the front of my mouth, right behind my lips, are kind of tingling and sore. Is this from rinsing too much? Should I be rinsing less or dilluting the mouthwash a little bit? I didn't think I had to dillute, since there's no alcohol in it, but I'm willing to be wrong here. lol.
Any other tips would be helpful. Thanks. :)
- off-center sternum microdermal. - Wed, 28 Oct 2009 06:43:25 GMT
- so i got a microdermal in my sternum today, and somehow between me being nervous and my friend passing out before we even started, my microdermal ended up off-center.... in a big way. i will edit with photos tomorrow if i get time (it's 2:30am, i'm lazy). i know that i should have checked placement more carefully but i was just so jittery i was kinda all over the place.
now here is the problem, the shop in which i got the dermal done is 4 hours away, and I'm anal about symmetry in the worst way.
so, a couple questions. 1) how hard would it be for me to remove this by myself? (i work at a tattoo/piercing shop locally, so i have needles/hemostats/etc at my disposal)
2) how long before i can re-pierce?
3) how bad is my scar going to be?
any suggestions as to how i should handle this situation as far as the shop goes? i emailed them already but i'm not quite sure what we can do when we're 4 hours apart...
really anything would be helpful right now, i'm so disappointed i could cry.
- - Tue, 27 Oct 2009 04:59:03 GMT
- Forgive me if this isn't allowed, but...
I'm really wanting to get a tattoo done sometime in the next year. I have a design picked out and a tentative artist I want to go to, now the only thing holding me back is the money. Trouble is, I have no experience with tattoos or how long they take, and thus how much money I'll need to have put away by the time I go in.
The design I'm thinking of is roughly 6" by 4", and this or this level of detail. It will be a colour tattoo. While I know it varies by artist, can anyone give me a rough estimate of how long a tattoo like that will take; so I don't end up wasting his and my time?
Thanks!

- Sad ears - Thu, 15 Oct 2009 03:15:57 GMT
- Hey guys! So I just went to a 00g from a 0g. Ouch. MY ears are not happy and are super red and throbbing!! Any advice on how to make them happy again and not hurt as much!?
- Bumpy skin - Sun, 04 Oct 2009 19:43:37 GMT
- I've got a question.. My upper arms are quite bumpy and red, would this affect a tattoo?
Anyone else with this problem here who's gotten a tattoo over it? Has it healed properly?
[It looks like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keratosis_pilaris although mine is a lot less noticeable than the picture]
- UK PORTRAIT ARTISTS - Sun, 04 Oct 2009 18:29:39 GMT
- So I've been wanting a black and grey portrait of Andy Warhol for a while and the majority of the artists I've come across so far have been very mundane. The two (yes, two) decent artists I've found in the last year haven't really specialized in portraiture but have a really nice clean style with a defined thick outline, and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any similar styled tattooists that have a bit more portraiture in their portfolio/gallery (preferably UK based, but don't be afraid to post international artists/)
Ok, so my favorite two are. http://www.getmooretattoos.com/gallery.html & http://www.triplesixstudios.co.uk/images/Triplesix%20Studios%20Bez/Triplesix%20Studios%20Bez/Triplesix%20Studios%20Bez/index.html

- tongue piercing - Fri, 25 Sep 2009 18:28:04 GMT
- I did post somewhat recently about something along the same lines, so I do apologize for seeming as though I'm repeating myself.
I'm 24 years old, and looking to get my tongue pierced. It's been something that I've wanted for awhile, but never got the nerve to do it, and I'm thinking it's time (despite the fact that my mom keeps nagging me about how I'm "too old" for it).
My biggest concern, though, has always been the effects that it has on your teeth and gums. I don't have the greatest teeth as it is (which is partially why I want it done -- to give me a little more confidence when it comes to my mouth). I know that acrylic and bioflex will help to prevent the risk of tooth/gum damage, but I was wondering if anybody here could give me a few other maybe not so obvious tips?
Also, I know that a lot (most?) of you have your tongue pierced, and I was wondering how many of you have actually experienced problems from it, as far as your teeth and gums go? I find it a little funny that all I've been reading about is how this is such a common problem, and yet, I'm really not finding many people who have actually experienced such things.
Thanks!
- Surface bars! - Fri, 25 Sep 2009 08:08:11 GMT
- I finally decided on a piercing....Well my piercer decided on where my surface bar would go...
Anyway, take a look? =)

- bioplast - Wed, 23 Sep 2009 05:03:02 GMT
- Hey guys..
I was wondering if it's safe/okay to put Bioplast into a fresh piercing? I've been reading up on this around the interweb, and I'm finding mixed opinions. Just checking to see what you guys had to say about Bioplast, and your experiences with it.
Thanks!
- I didn't know where else to turn! - Mon, 21 Sep 2009 01:59:30 GMT
- Ok, so i have my ears stretched to like 7/16 or w/e (sorry, i'm really bad with measurements and what not)! anyways, so the more i'm looking at them, the more i'm realizing that they aren't centered... and now it just bothers me, cause i'm unsure if i should keep stretching them or will that screw it up? and is it too late to do so? because my ears are big.
:(
this just sucks, because i don't know what to do, and i don't want to have to start all over again (boo) so help? please
- New Piercings? - Thu, 17 Sep 2009 23:13:44 GMT
- I am still undecided on what I want to pierce next. I have a lip piercing, my nose is pierced, my tongue, my belly button (Took it out, scarred up),
I was thinking of getting corsets but i'm still undecided.....Does anyone have any favorites I could consider?
- tongue/monroe - Thu, 17 Sep 2009 17:46:48 GMT
- I'm planning on getting both my tongue and monroe done at the same time. I figured, they're both oral piercings, both require the same aftercare, and both leave my mouth a wee bit immobilized, so why not just get them both out of the way? But I figured I'd run it by the more experienced first..
Good or bad idea? Or doesn't really matter?
Also.. I've been kind of terrified of getting oral piercings, but I've always wanted them. I've just heard serious horror stories about them fucking up your gums and teeth and all that crap. Any tips on preventing that from happening? I figured with all of the people out there with these, it doesn't seem possible to me that every single one of them has issues.. But I figured with my luck, I'd end up being one of them, and I'm just looking for some advice, hehe.
- got my nostril pierced..i have a question.. - Sat, 12 Sep 2009 17:31:57 GMT
- I posted several day ago about passing out the first time I attempted to get my nostril pierced. And well, I went for it, took your advice, and everything went smoothly. I had actually told my piercer (new place, new piercer -- House Of Colour on Long Island in Bay Shore -- I highly recommend it) about my ordeal the first time around, and he wasn't too thrilled hearing about it. Told me that if she had actually known what she was doing, chances are that wouldn't have happened.
But anyway, I'm not here to tell you about my experience. I'm actually here to ask a question. Maybe a dumb one, but I'm a little frustrated..
I got it pierced with a nostril screw, and so far, so good. For me, I feel like this was the better choice. I have to wear prescription sunglasses about 75% of the time, and I think a CBR would've really gotten in the way of those. But anyway, obviously, I had my nose cleaned out when he pierced, but now.. I feel like I have a serious buildup of boogers up there, and it's starting to aggravate me (sorry if the wording grosses anybody out, but I figured we're all cool here, lol). The piercing was only done a couple days ago, so it's obviously still fresh and sore, so doing any digging or crazy noseblowing is totally out of the question.
How do I clean this out without really irritating the piercing? If your advice is to just leave it alone for the time being, then by all means, that's what I'll do. But I just figured I'd ask in the event that one of you fine BMEers had some brilliant advice on how to do this. Thanks :)
- The last post made me think of this. - Sat, 12 Sep 2009 06:12:20 GMT
- I have had my lip pierced for about eight years. There has been a few times where my lip would just out of nowhere swell up and get itchy around the piercing. Once I ate some watermelon then BOOM! All swollen. I had to take out the jewelry cause it was getting so tight. It never even swelled that bad when it was pierced. ANy ideas on why that would happen?
And I have talked to others that have had this issue. Sometimes my tattoo gets raised. Like where the main lines are it will get raised up. Not really any shading parts. Does anyone know the causes of these things?
- lip ring owwies. - Fri, 11 Sep 2009 12:04:00 GMT
- so, I've had my lip pierced for about 5 years. after having to take it out a couple years ago the hole shrank down to the size of a regular earring (18g, I guess?). I wanted it back up to a 14g so I headed over to my piercer on tuesday who advised me to stretch it instead of repiercing it. everything went okay, no swelling.. till yesterday (thursday). I ate some taco bell and it's been pretty downhill since then.. it's been burning, puss, crusties and it's swollen up pretty bad. I've never stretched a piercing before so I'm not really sure what to expect. the piercer said a little bit of swelling would be about it. could it have been the ~fire sauce~?? or maybe a tear from the stretching?? I dunno, help? :(
- :D - Mon, 07 Sep 2009 03:41:48 GMT
I've been away from LJ for a while, So I thought I'd post some of the work I've had done over the last couple of months. Yes, I know. Of the "an" variety or whatever.
Nostrils punched at 5mm and immediately stretched to 6mm, done by Azl
This picture is of a ridiculous sign picture I made for my best friend. You can see my healed labret and nostrils before the punch.

Feel free to tell me how lame signs are, and how lame I am for making them.

This is my naked labret with one of my tongues sticking through it, also very lame. It makes me happy :)

YAY PUNCH!

Poking and stuff

All done!

Implants done by Efix.
I'll post more pictures when they are healed. Should be about 3 months ish.
- some advice? - Fri, 04 Sep 2009 17:23:27 GMT
- This might get a little bit long-winded, so please, hang in there with me.
About six years ago or so, I attempted to get my nostril pierced. Everything went swimmingly, until the piercer tried to get the CBR through and closed, and eventually I passed out and she didn't finish the job. From what I remember, I didn't feel any pain, just a little bit of pressure, and I can't recall the actual act of passing out. I just remember waking up and being really pissed off about the whole situation.
Since then, I've wanted to try again, but as silly as it may be, I'm worried about the same thing happening. I've gotten other piercings since then with no problem, and I had gotten piercings before then with no problem, but that particular one just didn't work out.
Any advice on how I can go through with this and actually come away without passing out (other than to not go to that piercer again)?
Also, is there any specific recommended jewelry for when you initially have your nostril pierced? The place I used to go to only pierced with CBRs, but if I could avoid having one, I'd like to. If that's what's best, then obviously, I'll just go with that, but I'm just wondering.
Thanks!

- I know this is off topic...kinda.
I was wondering if anyone here was going over to dragoncon in Atlanta this year. It's my first year going alone and it'd be cool to have someone to pal around with and drink with. I even got a decent hotel in walking distance of the con that I'm staying in by myself if anyone needs some floor room it's open. my Aim=everydayslackerr Hit me up. my bme is=http://iam.bmezine.com/?overkill
- New tongue piercing - a question - Tue, 25 Aug 2009 23:59:20 GMT
I got my tongue pierced 6 days ago at Holier Than Thou, Manchester (England) by Graham, who also did my VCH. Everything's been great. He pierced slightly to the side on the underneath because I have a very long lingual frenulum, but it's angled to come out on the top in the centre. Healing has been fab: I was eating mashed potato, jelly and soup quite comfortably for the first couple of days and quickly graduated on to rice and pasta. No real pain (I used to get excruciating tonsilitis a lot, so perhaps I am immune to oral discomfort!)
My question is: i have a firm 'crown' round the piercing. Seeing as I have had no gunk coming out of the piercing, is this a build up of lymph? Graham warned against this and recommended that I massage my tongue, which I have been - the hard area has got a little smaller, but how long can I expect that to be around? Have you had it?
Just for fun, here's my now retired septum and double nostrils:
The double nostrils went because I got sick of accidentally bashing them when drunk, and found it hard to apply foundation around them. The septum went when I had just broken up with my ex and was sick of it rattling every time I blew my nose and cried (which was constantly - for days!). I don't have any scar tissue in either so may bring them back one day.
I'm thinking about a single nose ring...
Anyway, this is my first post. Hello all! (I'll post again once I get my fouth tattoo next month (it's a large piece on my upper inner right arm) - I've chucked in my other tattoos below for good measure:

By Louis Malloy - Middleton Tattoo Studio
By Andrea Furci - The Family Business, Islington
(My next will be by Sarah Schor, Red Hot and Blue, Edinburgh)
